Road work Improvements on the RN90
The RN90 -the main road which runs from Albertville to Bourg Saint Maurice and is the main and only route into the Tarentaise valley and a number of ski resorts will see improvements made over the next few years.
The RN90 is the access route to the 3 valless, Paradiski and the espace killy ski area's. For Whiterides these are the ski areas we most commonly cover so this road is essential to our everyday business.
In the peak periods 35,000 vehicles use this road to get to Les Arcs, La Plagne, Courchevel, Meribel, Tignes, Val d'isere and many more, and with a Fleet of 10 minibuses you be sure to see a Whiterides van on this strech of road at some point.
At the end of last season in April 2015 a huge rock fall from high above the main road just outside Moutiers came crashing down destroying everything in it's path, buildings, train lines and the main carriage way its self. This is not the 1st big rock fall witnessed here as there has been similar rock falls here back in 2006 and 2008.
As a result of these earlier rock falls and the potential risk of the Isere (river) flooding a huge projected was undertaken to build a new 3 lane carriage way opposite the existing one just out side of Moutiers making the route safer and increasing the flow of trafic. Completion of the work will be done by 2017.
