MTB UPLIFTS

MTB Uplifts in the French Alps with Whiterides - Mountain biking in the Tarentaise valley offers some of the best riding in the French Alps. With thousands of kilometers of high alpine single track trails and thousands of metres of descents this is the perfect MTB playground.

Here at Whiterides we are passionate mountain bikers and even after 13 years we are still finding new trails on the mountains in our beautiful valley. If you are planning a MTB holiday in the French Alps then the best way to access the local trails, with locals knowledge, is with a Whiterides uplift.

Book an uplift day with Whiterides and let us drive you to the start of all the great and hidden trails in our backyard. (See prices and some example uplift days below)

How it works !

Now you've booked you uplift day and you're ready to roll, a member of our team will contact you to discuss and plan your uplift day(s):

  • On the day your Whiterides driver will collect you from you hotel or chalet door, at a predefined time, load you bikes onto the trailer and get going off to your 1st trail.
  • All of our uplift days are self gudied but don't worry you will be dropped at the start of the trail, given a map for directions and our driver will pre-arrange the pick up ponit at the end of the trail.
  • On a single uplift day you can expect to ride 5-6 trails depending on the difficulty of the trails ridden and the riding level of your group.
  • For lunch either bring a packed lunch or our driver can suggest somewhere to eat, depending on your location. We advise to come prepared as you can never have enough food and drink on a Whietrides Alpine uplift adventure!
  • At the end of the day you will be dropped back to your hotel or chalet.
  • We recommend an Enduro or DH bike for the trails that you will be riding.  Be aware that there may be some pedalling involved but this is really all about the downs!

La Plagne Untouched

La Plagne Untouched - This is one of our most popular uplift days offering some amazing trails which for the most part are pretty untouched due to the lack of lift access in the summer months. This obvioulsy works in our favour as bikers because they don't get trashed and remain perfect riding trails from May to November.

On our La Plagne Uplift day we will show you a varity of awesome single track trails starting well above 2000 meters and droping all the way to the valley floor.

On these trails you can expect; flowy forest runs, techincal rocky descents and challenging switch backs.

It really has everything you could want on an uplift day and you can expect a full on day riding 5-6 trails.

Sunny Side Single Track

Sunny side single track - These are our local trails on the south facing side of the valley, these get the sun from first thing in the morinig. On this uplift day we will start down the valley towards Moutiers and work our way along the south facing valley to Bourg Saint Maurice.

There are a varity of trails along this side of the valley from super flowy forest tracks to high alpine mounrtain top single track. There are some of the best trails in the area on this side of the valley and again these are pretty untouched as they are not often ridden.

All these trails offer stunning views looking back onto the resrots of La Plagne, Les Arcs and the high mountain tops of the Mt Pourri and the Bellecote.

Mont Jovet Epic

Mont Jovet Epic - On this all day epic ride we will uplift you to Aime La Plagne 2000. From there it is a ride/ walk/ hike-a-bike to just below the Bellecote summit around 2200m. This hike-a-bike takes around 1 hour and is well worth the effort when you arrive at the top with stunning views over the Tarentaise valley.

From here start your descent, first on high open alpine single track traversing round to the Refgue Du Mont Jovet, then blasting down a super fast ridgeline which takes you into the woods and this carries on all the way down to Bozel.

Continue your ride along the river and meet the driver in Mouiters for a well deserved beer.

This is a full day out with just drop off and pick up so make sure you have plenty of food and drink for the full adventure.

Meribel Ridge Line

Meribel Ridge line - On this all day adventure we will uplift you to Meribel Mottarat in the 3 Valleys and from there it is roughly 1 hour riding to the start of the ridge line.

This is undoubtedly one of the best trails in the area. Starting on the Meribel ridge line you will ride some epic alpine single track along the top. With the ridgeline being well over 2000 meters high it offers amazing views over the valleys of Meribel and St Martin De Belleville.

As you descend the super flowy trails off the ridge you will then ride into more wooded trails heading down through the valley, eventally ending up in the town of Moutiers where you will meet our driver and can treat yourself to a well deserved beer.

Les Arcs Locals

Les Arcs locals - We offer this uplift day out of season (May - June & Sept - Oct) when the resort is closed and the lifts are not running.

Les Arcs has some great marked and unmarked trails to discover out of season.

On this day we will uplift to the trails in the resort of Les Arcs / Peisey Vallandry where you can ride many hidden trails, that you won't find on any maps, or the more common man made marked resort trails.

With a varity of trails offering techical descents, rock gardens, jumps, burms, flowing single track and more Les Arcs/ Peisey Vallandry has it all for a full day out of fun.

This is also where Whiterides headquarters is based and so you are guaranteed a little insider knowledge before setting off and "If we haven't ridden it, it ain't worth riding!".

La Rosiere and St Foy Descents

La Rosiere and St Foy decents - Further up the Tarentaise valley you will find the ski resorts of La Rosiere and St Foy which offer some great trails that lead all the way down to the valley floor.

On this uplift day we will start by taking you up to the ski resort of La Rosiere at 1850m. From here there are 2 amazing trails that descend down to Bourg Saint Maurice through the woods over a varity of terrain.

After a quick lunch stop we will then uplift you to the Ski resort of St Foy and again here you will ride amazing single track trails all the way down to the valley floor.
