Freeride Week in Les Arcs France has taken place every year since 2015. Freestyle skiers and snow boarders come to Arc 1950 to compete for the title "Freeride World Qualifier".
This event runs each year around the end of January / beginning of February. Shows, stalls, events and exhibitions for riders and spectators in The Arc 1950 area come with it, such as work demos of the piste patrols, and a mix of awesome night time entertainment.
What is free riding?
Also known as off-piste or big-mountain, free-riding is not for the faint-of-heart, and it is an amazing spectator sport.
All routes and turns are natural, with no man made ramps or groomed slopes.
Freeride Week skiers and boarders
There are usually over 100 skiers and boarders from all over the world that take part in Freeride Week in Les Arcs. To take part, you must be amongst the world's most technically accomplished but anyone can watch!
An awards ceremony takes place in Arc 1950 village at around 6pm on the last day. There is usually free tartiflette (a traditional mountain dish) and mulled wine!
