La Plagne Ski Resort

La PLagne is a lovely resort for families because of its wide pistes and array of different level slopes covering beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders. La Plagne has 225 kilometres of slopes as well as a large off piste skiing area which includes the Bellecôte's North Face, where you can ski down from La Plagne in to the beautiful Vanoise National Park and Nancroix, your return trip is easy with a quick bus ride then a trip on the Vanoise Express from Vallandry to Les Coches.

La Plagne offers the lovely village of Montchavin at 1250m and offers you access right to the top of the Glacier de la Chiaupe near the top of the Bellecôte at 3250m, so you wont get bored exploring this ski playground.

La Plagne and its surrounding resorts offer 10 green beginner slopes with a real mix from wide open pistes to small simple tree lined areas in Les Coches a great base for you and your family.

You have access to the whole resort with 72 blue runs and 30 red! Ski from La Plagne Bellcote to Montchavin offering a complete change of scenery and skiing for you and your group.

Expert skiers in La Plagne:

With 15 black pistes and a array of off-piste skiing including the North face of the Bellcote, this is a great place to ski off piste, even if the rest of your group want to stay firmly on the piste!

The closest airport to La Plagne

As mentioned before Chambery airport is the closest airport to all our popular French ski resorts, taking approximately 1hr 45 mins right to the top of La Plagne ski resort. However this is also the airport with the least number of arrivals and departures and it can get extremely busy in the winter ski season. The route is direct on the motorway from Chambery and you will quickly see the rising Tarentaise mountain terrain as you travel along the N90 before heading up the resort road.

Lyon Airport to La Plagne Transfers

Lyon airport is also known as Lyon - Saint Exupery and has more choice in flight times than Chambery.

There are loads of airlines that fly to Lyon, but the more well known are EasyJet UK, British Airways and Swissair.

Lyon airport to Tignes transfer time is approximately 3 hours, covering a distance of 220km and the main route is via the motorway (autoroute) from Lyon airport to the N90 then up from the small town of Bourg Saint Maurice to Tignes ski resort.

Chambery Airport to La Plagne Transfers

Chambery airport is the closest airport to Tignes, and therefore is the shortest airport transfer. It is also known as Chambéry Savoie.

Airlines that fly to Chambery are Flybe, British Airways and Transavia.

Flights can sometimes be hard to find because there are a limited number of them. Flights to Chambery airport are available from the following UK airports: Leeds, Manchester, Doncaster, Birmingham, Norwich, Stansted, London City, Cardiff and Exeter.

Eurostar snow train to La Plagne

Consider the new Eurostar route direct from London to Lyon Part-Dieu central train station where a Whiterides driver can easily pick up from. Or stay on the train and get off at Aime then it's just a 30 min transfer up to the French ski resort of La Plagne. And don't worry if you end up in Bourg Saint Maurice train station as its just a 10 minute drive on from Aime so we always pick you up here too.

Direct day trains to the French Alps are run on Saturdays between December-April and direct night trains run on Fridays from January-April.
